Naming Twins

Naming a singular baby can be a daunting task, but if you are having twins you are going to have more confusion in the name game. There are several ways to come up with names. Let's look at some of the ways and examples.
You can have the names rhyme if that appeals to you. For the boys do Teddy and Freddy, for example. For the girls, you could name them Carrie and Mary. The one downside to this method is that the twins may have an extremely difficult time knowing their names. Therefore, you may remember that before using the rhyming method.
Another method is to use the same letter starting each name such as Jim and John. For the girls Mary and Mindy are good examples. This has been a favorite way to name twins over the years.
Family names are often used to name babies. But when naming twins, make sure to name both after family members. If you do not the child that is not given the family based name may feel like they aren't as important.
The idea for naming twins a lot of parents like is having the names mean the same. Some examples of this are names like the following.
• Jemima and Columba both mean dove. Jemima is of Hebrew origin while Columba is of Latin origin.
• Laura and Daphne actually mean Laurel. Laura originates in Latin. Daphne on the other hand comes from Greek origins.
• Joel and Elijah both mean God and are Hebrew in origin.
• Heather and Erica are fun to use. This is because in Latin Erica means guess what? The actual meaning is heather.
• Salome and Irene both mean peace. Salome is of Hebrew origin and Irene has its origin in Greek.
These are just a few suggestions. You can find many more by researching the meanings of names and find popular baby names.
As with any names given to children, the name needs to fit with your last name. The names need to roll off the tongue easy together.
The one thing parents do not think about is giving a child (twin or not) a real long name. As a young child learning to spell their name, a child may struggle more with a long name like Engelbert or Gertrude. This may be another thing you want to consider before naming.
Of course, the names are completely your choice. Hopefully, these few suggestions will help you in making this important decision. Naming twins does not have to be a huge problem it could be double the fun instead.
