Child Singing Stars for Kids

Shirley Temple

Singing is a wonderful talent and sometimes it can show up at a very young age. There are many young stars that become known to national audiences during the ages of 8-13 and a number of these individuals continue to have great success as they become older teens and young adults.

For some of the younger singers careers can be much shorter but one particular star enchanted the entire world for years, and even today, there is no child singing star that has matched the tremendous success of Shirley Temple.

This adorable child was not yet 5 years old when she was first brought to the attention of Hollywood directors and producers. Shirley was an adorable little girl with curls, an angelic smile and an amazing amount of talent. She could act, sing, and dance, and she was seemingly fearless in front of cameras or live audiences.

During the years of the Great Depression in the United States, it was Shirley’s sunny smile and optimism that created hope for many people. President Roosevelt is reported to have proclaimed that "as long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right.” That is how much her voice effected people. Shirley made many movies and later became an ambassador for the US, today you will still find many of her fans in dozens of countries.

While Shirley may have been one of the brightest child singing stars years ago, today there are also a number of talented stars that have become famous while very young.

Two of the most famous singing groups that featured young performers were the Osmond Brothers and the Jackson 5. Donny Osmond and Michael Jackson were the undeniable stars for each of these tremendously popular groups.

Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake all were given their first break by their appearances on Walt Disney’s “New Mickey Mouse Club”. All 3 could sing and dance, but it was Britney who became the first to be the break out star in her teens with the hit; Baby One More Time. Justin earned a lot of fans while in his early teen years in the boy band *NSYNC, but it would be later when Justin broke out on his own that he scored his biggest hits like Cry Me A River and Like I Live You. Christina was never quite as popular as the charismatic Britney when singing and dancing on the television series, but now that she is a young lady, it is Christina who is showing that she has the most natural talent of all 3 stars with smash hits Genie in a bottle and Dirty

Hannah Montana is another child singing and acting star and this television character’s real name is Miley Cyrus. Miley’s shows are sold out performances, and her albums are coming in high on many national charts. Although she began her career more as an actress, it is her vocal talents that many of her fans want to hear now. Miley has recently celebrated her 16th birthday.

Hillary Duff is another actress-singer who became a phenomenon at an early age with the show, “Lizzie McGuire”.  Her first album was “Metamorphosis” which became a triple platinum success while she was still only 15 years old. Today, this pop princess is 21 years old but she continues to act and sing to the delight of her fans and audiences in many countries.
