Hannah Montana and it's Star Miley Cyrus

Let’s see how many of you know who nerdy Miley Stewart really is…of course, she is the alter ego of Hannah Montana. While Hannah is a pop star diva, Miley is the Malibu teen who tries to live a normal life without letting people know that she is a famous celebrity. Both of these characters are played by real life star Miley Cyrus, 16, who has become one of Disney’s biggest success stories.

The Hannah Montana television show is shown on the Disney Channel and March of 2009 will mark the 3rd year that it has been featured. On this series, fantasy and reality combine to create a fun mix of confusion because Billy Ray Cyrus portrays Hannah’s dad and manager, and he happens to be her dad in real life. To add to the confusion both her television dad and real dad are former country music stars. Even the Hannah character is that of a Tennessee girl who becomes famous and moves to California. Miley herself thinks that the blending of real life and fictional characters add to the appeal of the show. Famous country singer Dolly Parton has been a guest on the show and plays the part of Hannah’s Aunt Dolly, but they do not share this connection in the real world.

This Disney series was successful from the start and Miley Cyrus rocketed to stardom as a result. Young Miley Cyrus first appeared as Kylie on a television series called “Doc” that her father was starring in. Other appearances followed on the televised Country Colgate Showdown and she was seen in music videos and in a movie called” Big Fish”. After the Hannah Montana show was launched, Miley performed at Walt Disney World in Florida and became the opening act for the Cheetah Girls in 2006.

Miley loves to tour where she has the chance to don her blonde wig and bring the Hannah Montana character to life for fans. The first national Best of Both Worlds tour took place in 2007, and was launched following the success of Miley’s first album. The 2006 album was named for the title character, “Hannah Montana”. In 2007, Miley released another album called Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, which has also been extremely popular. In 2008, the Best of Both Worlds film and album were also released, and the new Hannah Montana movie is set for release this spring in both the US and the UK.
