Comparing the human brain to the computer's "brain"

The human brain and the computer have much in common but they also have lots of differences. Let’s compare these two “Brains” and learn some fun facts about both types of intelligence. One thing to keep in mind is that the human brain is still infinitely more complicated than the largest and smartest computers.

TRANSMITTING INFORMATION

Our brains use chemicals and hormones to transmit signals and information.
Computers transmit information by using electricity.

Even though electrical signals and impulses can travel fast in our bodies, they travel faster over the electrical connections and wiring in a computer.

Advantage: Computers

CREATING MORE MEMORY

Our brains learn and create more memories by creating better, stronger and faster connections Information from one neuron flows to another neuron across a synapse.

Computers can develop more memory through additional computer chips.

Advantage: Computers because of multi-tasking capability involving memory. Our brains can learn new ideas and concepts more quickly than a computer, but a computer can do many very complicated assignments at one time. In other words a computer is better at multitasking than human brains. If you want to test this see how fast you can count backwards from 100 to 0 by 5 and reciting the ABCs at the same time.

EVOLUTION AND DESIGN

Human brains have been about the same size and same weight for the last 1000 centuries, it presently weighs about 3 pounds.

Computers have existed for about 50 years but have been made smaller and faster at an astonishing rate.

Advantage: Computers

POWER SUPPLY

Our brains need oxygen and sugar in order to work.
Computers need to have only an electrical supply.

Advantage: Human Brains

DAMAGE CONTROL

Our brains can sometimes create new pathways if a part of it becomes damaged, but scientists still are not able to really help with brain damage. There is progress being made but the connections in our human brains are much more complicated than those of a computer.

If a computer is damaged, we just replace it or buy some new parts and exchange them.

Advantage: Computers

UPDATING INFORMATION

Human brains do not turn off even when we are sleeping, they are always working, learning and upgrading as much as they are able.

A computer can only upgrade through the addition of new hardware, new software or new directions or systems. When a computer is shut down it is not working at all, unlike the human brain.

Advantage: Human Brain

PROCESSING INFORMATION

Our brains are capable of great imagination and ideas, and the brain can analyze the world and environment and create more responses than a computer.

Computers are able to do computations at a much faster speed than human brains can do at this time.

Advantage: Let’s call this one a draw, the computer may be faster but the human brain can still do many things that computers can not do.
