Fitness Facts For Kids
What better activity is there for kids than moving, running and jumping? All children need to have some type of regular physical activity. This is because it will help develop coordination, strong bones, and will help increase self-confidence. Fitness activities also encourage the development of brain activity, helps build muscles and creates a healthy attitude toward life in those children that engage in some type of sport several times a week.
Today obesity is a leading problem among children and teenagers. This is due in part to a diet that is often less than healthy, but is also due to inactivity. Children who fail to exercise on a routine basis also are seen to have less self-confidence than those who take part in some type of fitness activity. Research has also shown that children who are active and exercise, or participate in some fun physical activity are happier than their fellow couch potatoes. This is due in part to the endorphins that are produced in the brain when exercise is involved.
There should be at least one hour of physical activity for children and teenagers every day. This activity can involve walking, running, jumping, or dancing. For many children there is activity waiting in their own garden. Children can play on garden swings and trampolines and have great fun while burning up calories and kicking their fitness level into high gear. Garden trampolines provide some wonderful physical activity that increases physical coordination and self-confidence at the same time. Even all parents can participate in family activity of this sort, and have amazing fun.
Music is a great way of getting your kids interested in fitness activities and you can use your favourite songs as inspiration for everything from bike riding to playing on outdoor swings or gyms. Take your musical tunes with you as you go on power walks or fun runs. Kids always love to do things that involve the entire family and adding music to the mix will generate even more excitement.
The more a child participates in sports and fitness today, the more likely they will continue this type of activity as they become older. Parents can take a lead role by participating along with their children. There are a number of great fitness ideas for you to try out. Tennis, bowling, skating, badminton, volleyball, and football are only a few of the great sports that can get you into the thick of the action. Don’t worry about how well you perform the activity; there is plenty of time to improve. The important thing is to get moving now, and make fitness a daily part of your family’s schedule.
