Animals Need Your Help

Animals have no voice, well parrots and some other birds can imitate human speech but they still can not ask for help if they need it. It is up to us to help animals whenever we can to help them stay healthy and happy. Here are some suggestions that you and your friends and family can use to make the world a better place for all animals.

1. If you own a dog or cat consider having it spayed or neutered to prevent unwanted litters.

2. Keep a collar and an ID tag on your pets so they can be returned if they become lost.

3. Remember that recycling is good for the Earth and it saves the habitats of many wild animals.

4. Read about any animal before you adopt it so you can take care of your pet properly.

5. Adopt animals instead of going to pet stores and puppy breeders for a new pet.

6. If you eat a veggie hamburger or hot dog one day a week you will save an animal's life.

7. Clean up after your pet when you walk him on the street or at the park.

8. Keep your cats indoors during the evening and night time hours.

9. Remember that animals really do not make good gifts or presents.

10. Your pets love to have you pay attention to them each day.  Play with your pet, keep them groomed and clean, and give them plenty of love.

11. If you eat foods that are organic you are supporting companies that do not poison and pollute the outdoor homes of wild animals.

12. Spend time at an animal shelter and you will make the lives of these animals much happier because they will know that you care.

13. When you plant native flowers and shrubs you are giving food and shelter to wild birds, animals and helpful insects.

14. Pets need to see a vet to keep them in the best of health.

15. Hunt animals with cameras and your eyes, not weapons.

16. Be gentle whenever you are handling animals so you do not scare them.

17. If you have a pet that lives in a cage, be sure to let them out whenever possible for exercise and fun.

18. Do not support shows that use wild animals in their acts. All wild animals need to left in the great outdoors so that will live a happy life.

19. Do not rob a bird's nest of eggs or baby birds.

20. If you find a baby bird on the ground, look for its nest and place him back safely. Just because you touch the bird is not a problem. Its mother will be happy to have her child returned.

21. Build a bat house and place the house where these animals can find it. You can put it in the woods or someplace other than your own back yard if bats frighten you.

22. Collect toys, food and blankets and then donate these to a local animal centre or shelter.

23. Have a fund raiser and give the proceeds to a humane organization or animal shelter.

24. Don't try to tame wild animals and make them your pet.

25. Start a club at school that will let you learn more about helping animals. If you will ask your parents and teachers to help you get this project started they will be glad to assist you.
