How to Get Your Baby to Sleep Through The Night
Most sleep problems that parents want to fix start when the child is 1-2 months of age. Since the babies can’t talk, it’s hard to find out what exactly the baby wants. When it comes to sleeping, the baby might want certain things to be going on to soothe them. Babies from 3-4 months may need a lot of soothing, most babies will outgrow the need to be soothed to sleep at the 4 month mark. This does not mean that all babies will, and there isn’t anything wrong with your baby if your baby still wants to be soothed at this point. Somethings you can do when trying to put your baby to sleep is; put up a clock that makes a ticking noise. This allows the baby to hear a steady beat that may sound similar to the mother’s heart. Or you could put something called “White Noise” in the baby’s room. White noise can be simple a radio that is turned to no station so only static can be heard. If you want your child to develop good sleeping habits without the need of the bottle, then try to get them to fall asleep by themselves. Many adults wake up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep not soon after, but for babies, they will up wake up and demand the comfort of the bottle. At 6-8 months, the baby experiences separation anxiety. This is when the parent-which is normally the mother-is not within their sight. This little factor in the big sleep problem tree can become very difficult when you are trying to get the baby to sleep in their own cribs. It might be best to get the baby in the routine of sleeping in their own crib at the age of four months. One thing you might want to try is putting the baby in his crib while he is awake, but drowsy. To help him climb aboard the sleep train, try speaking to him and gently touch and stroke his face so he knows you’re there. With following these tips, you can help your child develop good sleep habits and also help you get more sleep. You would be surprised what one or two of the tips can do for you and your baby.
