Making Silly Putty at Your Kitchen Table
On days when you are bored and there doesn’t seem to be anything to do you can become an inventor. Well, maybe not an inventor because you are not really making anything new, but you can still have great fun creating some amazing things at home, like Silly Putty! Now you can make this fun kid toys instead of spending your money to buy them.
Silly Putty recipe
½ cup Elmer’s School Glue (the white kind in the clear squeeze bottle)
1 cup of liquid starch
A few drops of food color if you choose, but this is not required
Put the glue in a plastic or glass bowl.
Add the starch and then mix.
(You can add the drops of food colour at any time, even after the Putty is formed. The food colouring can get on your hands and on the carpet so always have newspapers covering your work area.)
Some people like to cover the container with plastic or foil and place it in the refrigerator overnight. Then it is ready to be played with the next day.
All you really have to do though is to mix the glue and starch with a spoon. Then you can scoop out the blob of putty that has formed.
The more you roll this blob in your hands the more it will transform into the type of Silly Putty that you are used to holding.
When you have your putty just right, you can play with it or put it in a plastic bag or sealed container for another day.
