Some Simple Recipes for Kids

Cooking is fun and there are a lot of easy treats that you can make for your friends and family. Ask an adult to help use the blender and you can do everything else needed to make some great milkshakes, Banana Pops, or tasty Honey Butter Crisps. These recipes will help you learn how to follow directions and you can even discover how much fun it is to mix and measure ingredients.

Yummy Jelly Shakes

Ingredients:
1 box of Jelly – 4 serving size, any flavour
1 cup milk
8 ounces of vanilla ice cream

Directions:
Pour milk into blender, add the Jelly.
Put the top in place and blend for 30 seconds.
Add the ice cream and replace the top.
Blend for 60-90 seconds.
Now enjoy your tasty, delicious shakes.

Banana Pops

Ingredients:
1 cup banana or vanilla flavoured yogurt
1 diced banana
½ cup orange juice

Directions:
Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
Cover and blend for at least 90 seconds, or until smooth
Pour into small paper cups and put them in the freezer. After about 1 hour, place a Popsicle stick in the middle of each cup so that it stands upright.
Continue to freeze the banana popsicles for at least 6 more hours, but overnight would be even better.
When you are ready to eat the frozen treats, they should slide out of the cup, but if they stick, you can just peel the paper cup from your frozen pop.

Honey Butter Crisps

Ingredients:

½ level cup powdered (confectioner’s) sugar
½ cup of your choice of peanut butter
½ cup golden honey
1 ½ cups crispy rice cereal
½ level cup golden raisins
½ level cup of candy sprinkles or coloured sugar

Directions:

Mix honey, powdered sugar and the peanut butter in a large bowl
Stir until these are nicely mixed.
Add raisins and cereal to the bowl and stir again
Use your hands to make balls about an inch wide.
Roll the balls in the candy sprinkles or sugar and then place them on a cookie sheet that is covered with wax paper.
Place in the refrigerator for about 2 hours and then you can eat some and share these crispy goodies with others.

Pretzels

Directions:
