Christenings maintain popularity in the UK despite falling faith
Research shows that the UK is becoming an increasingly secular society, with 40 per cent of people in the U.K. admitting to have "no religion" at all. Despite this lack of faith new research shows that the number of baby Christenings has maintained their popularity. Baby christenings are often organised by parents of no faith as a way to give their family and friends an opportunity to celebrate the arrival of their new child. In Britain 168,000 new babies are baptised into the Church of England with another 64,000 into the Roman Catholic Church. In a relativey recent development, almost 10,000 babies will have a baby naming ceremony.
There's also a reported rise in the expense parents are willing to go to as many parents choose to hold ever more expensive ceremonies. Today the average cost of the celebratory party alone has risen to above £3,000, a figure that doesn't not include the cost of baby christening gowns and the baby Christening gifts bought by guests.
