How to Make Spaghetti Dishes Kids Will Love!

Almost everyone loves spaghetti but sometimes even this favourite food can seem boring.

A little imagination and a few new ingredients can perk up pasta dishes and add a new zest to a weekday meal.

Here is a Sauce-less Spaghetti that is Delicious and Nutritious:

Brown pound ground turkey, beef or chicken and drain
Brown  pound sausage and drain
Scramble 2 eggs
Crisply cook 3 pieces of bacon and drain on paper towel
Sauté 1/3 cup green onions, 1/3 cup chopped tomatoes, and some chopped bell pepper

Prepare angel hair pasta in usual manner.

When pasta is cooked and drained, add above ingredients and toss.

Add 2 tablespoons skim milk and toss again.

Sprinkle with garlic salt and add parmesan cheese.

All the above ingredients can be mixed and matched to suit your family's tastes. Add fresh garlic if your children like the flavour. A bit of seeded jalapeno peppers that are finely diced can be added to the adult portions.

Use spaghetti squash to create a dish that looks and tastes almost the same as those long skinny noodles. Spaghetti squash are ripe when they are very yellow, but discard any with soft spots. There is even an orange variety that is called Orangetti. Now these orange noodles are sure to get your kid's interest.

Spaghetti squash have long, thin strands of flesh inside that look identical to cooked spaghetti noodles. You can boil, bake, steam or microwave your spaghetti squash and have them ready to eat in just minutes.

Try the noodles steamed with just olive oil, cream, or use Parmesan Cheese as a topping. You can even use them with traditional spaghetti sauce and serve them in the hollowed out shells for a special WOW factor.
You can boil spaghetti squash using these steps:

* Divide squash in half and use a spoon to remove seeds and fibres.
* Put the squash halves in a large pot with the cut side down, and then add 2 inches of water.
* Use a knife or ice pick to put a few holes in the shells so steam can be released.
* Bring to a full boil, then cover the pot, and reduce heat. Allow to simmer for 30 minutes.
* Drain the squash and use a fork to scrape the strands out of the shells and into a bowl.

Parmesan Perfection

* 1 Spaghetti Squash Boiled and Scraped as above
* 1/3 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
* 1/3 Cup Olive Oil
* Salt and Pepper, or seasonings of your choice

When you have the spaghetti strands prepared and in a bowl, toss together with olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper. Then add Parmesan cheese as desired. Enjoy.
