Colour Children's Rooms Cheerful

Adding colour to a kid's bedroom does not have to be difficult or challenging. The whole idea of colourful decorating is to have fun. Kids love colour and as long as you keep their preferences in mind you should have no problem making it work.

Don't be afraid to add painted stripes to the walls of a room. These can be done vertically or horizontally, but if you want the room to seem larger you should always place stripes from ceiling to floor. No one ever said that the frame of a window had to be white so even this wood can be changed with a coat of paint if you choose. The accessories in a room can be the extra pop of colour that you need to change a good room into a great room.

Bold reds, black and white can transform a boring boy's room into an awesome place to hang out with friends or do homework. Try creating an accent wall with a checkerboard pattern or use black and white checks for a different look.

You can add pop to the room with red or black shelves. White curtains will add some light. A red framed picture and a red peg railing to hang hats and jackets will add some extra splashes of great colour. With a red and black comforter, you can complete the look. Remember to go easy on the black as too much can overpower the room.

Crisp whites, breezy blues and light tan or browns can make a kid's room feel like an ocean side retreat. If your child loves the seashore, bring it home to them. Use murals on the wall that show fish or seashells. You can even use paint and stencils to make your own sea friendly pictures.

Add a collection of seashells on a bedside table or dresser for extra interest. You can arrange netting along one wall to resemble a fish net and glue some plastic shells, starfish, or sand dollars onto the net. These can be found at almost any craft store. Stencil one or more walls with outlines of colourful sea creatures.

It might be easier to select your bedding and furniture for your kid's room first and then create the colour scheme. This is one way to make sure that you match the colours in the best way. Colourful bedding fabrics can also give you some great ideas for some colour combinations that you may not have thought of on your own.
